Online Infection Control Program for Healthcare Professionals

Online Infection Control Program for Healthcare Professionals

 About the program

As per the most conservative estimate, more than 10% of inpatients have hospital acquired infection at any given point of time. This is  known to have resulted in to complications, prolonged stay and even death in some cases. Most if not all infection can be easily controlled by adopting well established Infection Control Practices. Key is to provide education and training to staff as appropriate. While there are few established training courses for nurses like IPCN/ICN, there are hardly any structured programs for doctors and other support staff. The 3 days Infection Control Program for Healthcare Professionals aims to bridge this gap. This course by AHPI comes after successful launch of Infection Prevention & Control Nurse (IPCN) for nursing staff.

The objective of this program is to enable Healthcare Professionals in the hospitals including clinicians, diagnostic, pharmacists, administrators, and paramedical staff among others, to implement the infection prevention & control practices effectively. It enables Infection Control teams in carrying out surveillance and audit of clinical processes on regular basis. It needs no emphasis that healthcare associated infection is not limited among patients; it equally affects healthcare workers and therefore needs to be attended on highest priority.

The specific features of this program (as per WHO guidelines) are to provide knowledge in relation to:

  • Facilities, equipment, and procedures necessary to implement standard and additional (transmission-based) precautions for control of infection
  • Cleaning, disinfecting and reprocessing of reusable equipment
  • Waste management
