The Structural Engineering team at Integra Ventures

is involved in the structural design and assessment of new and existing hospitals. Most of these structures are located in regions of high seismicity with poor soil conditions. This requires a good understanding of seismic response of structures and soil dynamics. The major challenge lies in designing an earthquake-resistant structure while achieving cost efficiency. We are also involved in projects in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors, besides working in the healthcare sector.

Our team of engineers come from varied backgrounds, enabling us to design different kind of structures, i.e., bridges, highways, industrial structures and buildings. Our experience in the construction industry has led us to believe that the best works in our field are a result of strong collaboration between engineers and architects. Unlike most practices prevalent in this region, the architectural and engineering team are involved from the initial design stage of a project. This goes a long way in achieving cost efficiency along with structural robustness.

The single biggest threat to most structures in the Northern and North-eastern region, including parts of Western India, comes from earthquakes. Recent earthquakes in Mexico and Nepal caused catastrophic collapse of buildings, completely exposing the flaws in the structural design. International codes of practice (ASCE 41) classify structures into 4 distinct categories based on their performance in the event of a major earthquake.
  • Category A (Operational) – The building will not suffer any structural or non-structural damage even during a major earthquake.

  • Category B (Immediate Occupancy) – Building will suffer only cosmetic non-structural damage but no structural damage. It will be safe for occupants after a major earthquake.

  • Category C (Life Safety) – Building will suffer structural damage. It will have to be vacated, repaired and then reoccupied.

  • Category D (Collapse Prevention) – Building will be severely damaged during a major earthquake. Its repair will not be economically feasible. It will have to be demolished and rebuilt.

Category D is the minimum code safety standard which is being followed as a standard industry practice in India. Several buildings with open ground floors (for parking space), flat slabs and unreinforced masonry buildings fall below Category D. It is important for building owners and occupants to know which classification their structure falls into.

    Piyush Sharma
    Structural Engineer, B.Tech. (NTU, Singapore)
    M.Tech. Imperial College London, U.K.


    • Piyush finished his master’s degree in Structural Earthquake Engineering from Imperial College London in 2016. He has worked as a Structural Design Engineer at Beca Carter in Singapore, on various RCC and steel structures in residential and commercial sectors. He went on to work as a Site Engineer on high-rise buildings in Singapore.

    • Structural Engineer, Integra Ventures, Noida (May, 2017 – till date): HIM Residential School, Itanagar – The complete structural engineering services was handed to Integra Ventures. We prepared the detailed structural drawings for the foundations and superstructure(G+4) including the steel roof truss for the school building.

    • Structural Design Engineer, Civtech Consultants Pvt Ltd, Noida (Sept, 2016 – May, 2017): Bharti Delhi Ridges, Faridabad – An upcoming 12-towers residential project in Surajkund, Faridabad, with each tower ranging from 25 to 30 storeys. Piyush was handling the detailed structural design and analysis of this project. The work scope included regular site visits to ensure implementation of the structural drawings.

    • Site Engineer, SEF Construction Pvt Ltd, Singapore (May 2014 – September, 2015): HDB, Jurong East – HDB Jurong East Neighborhood is 38-storey high rise public housing development. Piyush worked as a site engineer on the public housing project responsible for timely execution of work on-site and QA/QC of precast structural panels.

    • Beca Carters, Singapore (Jan 2013 – Sept, 2013): Raffles Hotel, Singapore – Beca Carter was awarded the contract for a structural inspection and retrofitting of the 120-year old hotel in Singapore. Piyush was part of a team of engineers that carried out a detailed structural inspection of the building, prepared a report and subsequently, performed the necessary retrofitting works.

    Bridge Engineer, B.Tech (IIT Kanpur)


    • Basant is a Bridge Design Engineer with 9 years of experience in the design of infrastructure including bridges, flyovers, metro rail projects and buildings. He has worked in several national and international projects like the Dubal Metro, Doha Metro, 5 km expressway in Mongolia and flyovers in Singapore.

    • Senior Bridge Engineer, Integra Ventures, Noida (August, 2017 – till date): Basant is leading the team in the design of the upcoming bridge across Tirapriver in Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh. The work scope includes regular site visit and providing all structural design assistance once construction starts in October, 2017.

    • Senior Bridge Engineer, WSP India Pvt Ltd, Noida (October, 2016–August, 2017): Basant led the team in the Peer Review for design and drawings of Al Maktoum International Airport project in Dubai. Design calculations and drawings for the bridges, underpasses and utility structures of the project were peer reviewed and comments were given to the consultant. The clients were Dubai Aviation Exports Projects.

    • Senior Bridge Engineer, ECAS-EJ Consultants Pte Ltd, Singapore (August, 2015 – September 2016): Basant was involved in the Design and Accredited Checking of ER495-Roadworks on Upper Serangoon Road between Hillside Drive and Lowaland Road. The project involved design of box culverts and linkways, coordination with contractor, LTA and authorities for the approval of design and drawings.

    • Bridge Engineer, Cowi India (Mar 2015 – Sep 2016): Doha Metro- COWI India were awarded the design of access structures for underground metro stations in Doha. Structural model was prepared on Autodesk Robot and designed based on Eurocodes.

    • Shashank has an experience of more than 5 years in the design of high-rise RCC buildings and steel industrial structures.

    • Structural Engineer, Integra Ventures, Noida (May,2017 – till date): Adroit Row Houses, Guwahati, Assam – The upcoming row houses in the suburbs of Guwahati is a first of its kind in the North East region. Shashank is currently designing the RCC frame structure in close collaboration with the architects. The project is located in a region of high seismicity with poor soil conditions.

    • Structural Engineer, Civtech Consultants Pvt Ltd, Noida (May 2016 - May, 2017): UmangLearning Centre by Ashiana, Jaipur – This structure was a RCC G+12 Story building. Shashank carried out the structural analysis and design of the foundations and superstructure.

    • Structural Design Engineer, Structures& Foundation Pvt Ltd,Delhi (August, 2014 – May, 2016): Agrolmos Sugar Plant, Peru, South America – The sugar plant in Peru has a capacity of 5400 tons of cane per day. Shashank was responsible for the master layout for plant and design of steel portal frames (warehouse and process house) and the foundations for equipmentsupto 100tph boiler foundations.
      Menengai Oil Refineries Ltd, Nakuru, Kenya – The project involved expansion of the existing oil refinery including design of a new warehouse. Shashank was involved in the design of the new 4-storeys warehouse structure including 20 metres deep pile foundations.

    • Junior Design Engineer, Integra Ventures, Noida (April 2017 – till date): Working as a Junior Design Engineer

    • Junior Design Engineer, Meinhardt Groups, Noida (August 2015 – April 2017):
       Parsvnath mall, Pitampura, (Delhi) – The project was a B2+G+7 with 10 screen multiplex. Amit was part of a team responsible for the detailed structural design of the structure.

      -RahejaOma towers, Dharuheda (Haryana) – The project comprised of 2 towers. One of the high-rise tower was B2+G+38 and a G+3 structure.

      -Statue of Unity, Vadodara – The project is a 240 metres high statue of Sardar Patel. The structure consists of steel framing along with RC frame members. Amit, under the supervision of senior engineers, worked on the proof checking of the structural drawings.

    • Junior Design Engineer, MNR Associates, Visakhapatnam(July 2013–June 2014): Vijayawada Airport, Vijayawada (A.P.) – As a part of the expansion plan of the Vijayawada project, a new terminal building was proposed. Amit was involved in the design of the façade of the new terminal building.
      -Amit has also worked as an independent engineeron aresidential (G+3)RCC building in Port Blair (A & N Islands).

Completed projects

  • Hamreng District Hospital – An upcoming 100 bed hospital in KarbiAnglong district in Assam. The complete architectural, civil & structural consultancy services was provided by Integra Ventures.
  • HIM Residential School, Itanagar – Integra provided the structural solutions for the Main School Building and the Staff Quarters.

On-going projects

  • Tirap river bridge – A 60 metres, single-span bridge in the remote district of Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh.
